Keeping it Clean- and AVIODING the FLU!

Posted: 1/10/2013 11:25:00 AM

Winter of 2013 has proved to be extremely dangerous.  Mayor Menino has officially declared the city of Boston in “A State of Emergency”.  Hospitals have become overridden with Flu victims and are trying to move the people along as quickly as possible.  Due to the high demand for assistance, citizens of Massachusetts can find many clinics giving complimentary FLU SHOTS

A-Affordable would like to offer some simple steps that can keep you far from this dangerous flu.  It is important to take proactive steps towards keeping your home and vehicle sanitary, as these are the places that you spend a great deal of time.  It is an extremely good idea to buy a bottle/wipes of disinfectant (Lysol) and have it handy in your day bag and at your office place.

Home:

  1.      1- Wipe ALL phones down daily with a disinfectant.
  2.      2- Wash sheets weekly (daily if already sick)
  3.      3- Wipe toys down with disinfectant.
  4.      4- Wash them in dishwasher if you have one.
  5.      5- Wipe down bathroom every few days.
  6.      6- Use hot water when cleaning dishes.
  7.      7- Run your sponges through the dishwasher (if you have one)

Vehicle:

  1.      1- Wipe the steering wheel down with disinfectant daily.
  2.      2- Wipe down ALL vehicle handles daily.
  3.      3- Spray a disinfectant within the car at the end of each day.
  4.      4- Throw away trash.
  5.      5- Wash coffee mugs and water bottles daily.

The most IMPORTANT tip that we can give you is to constantly

WASH YOUR HANDS

throughout the day!!

Eating healthy and getting regular exercise is

always a bonus and can help fend off colds.

Massachusetts is extremely lucky to have dodged Hurricane Sandy.  As we know, New York was not as lucky and the devastation and painful daily tribulations exist right at this very moment.

According to The Chicago Tribune, New York and New Jersey is estimated to cost $79 billion in damages.  Meanwhile, one month later, PEOPLE STILL DON'T HAVE POWER!  A-Affordable wants to help and so we are heading an A-Affordable Relief Run for Hurricane Sandy Victims.

We have 3 LARGE TRUCKS that we would like to fill with donations and caravan to the damaged areas of NY.  A-Affordable owners and employees will be making donations of their own accord and urge you to reach out as well.   Please drop off all donations to any of our ten locations.  The trucks will take their Relief Run on the weekend of Dec 22nd and delivered by December 25th. Please have all donations delivered to any A-Affordable location by December20th.

Hey Hey Mother Nature!

How can we assist when she SLEEPS and when she STRIKES?

mother nature.jpg

I know I know- helping to keep Earth clean can be overwhelming.  So let’s just take some baby steps and get started by choosing one or two actions to introduce into our everyday life.  Taking care of Earth is a lot like taking care of our own bodies… if we choose not to, we will breakdown.  I am going to list a number of do-right actions for you to choose from and just maybe you can help get Mother Earth off our back!

How you can HELP while Mother Nature SLEEPS

As noted by Our Earth:

  1. Turn off lights when leaving a room.
  2. Use both sides of the paper when printing and copying.
  3. Walk or bike instead of driving.
  4. Take short showers.
  5. Drink Tap water instead of bottled water.
  6. Remove unneeded items from your car to reduce weight.
  7. Regularly replace the filter in your HVAC system.
  8. Install faucet aerators.
  9. Use cold water to wash clothes.
  10. Stop Junk mail.
  11. Install a programmable thermostat in your home.

How you can HELP while Mother Nature STRIKES

Noted by Our Revolution:

  1. Send amenities- toothpaste, toothbrushes, clothes, shoes, batteries etc.
  2. Donate blood
  3. Physically go to the location and help to rebuild.
  4. Donate Funds
  5. Open your home for housing.
  6. Spread the word through social media to help attain more assistance.
  7. Organize a charity drive.
  8. Give a ride to people in need.  They will need to go to stores, doctors, etc.
  9. Offer to take care of their dog or cat.
  10. Get the Children Involved!

So there you have it- two lists of ten notions that can make a world of a difference.

Take a few baby steps and start to become involved with our Planet!

Help out Mother Earth and you will in turn be helping all of us that live here.

Are you having problems finding affordable car insurance or obtaining a policy at all? Your driving record may inspire insurance carriers to label you “high risk”. While this does not mean you are uninsurable, you may need to get a special type of auto coverage. What are some errors that could lead to this?

Do You Need to Update Your Policy?

Posted: 8/31/2012 10:40:00 AM

Massachusetts is hit by an onslaught of natural disasters throughout the year – severe storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, flooding. Each of these has the potential of causing damage to your home. This is why many homeowners invest in insurance, to provide compensation for repairs after such events. Your insurance policy may not offer as much help as you expect if you fail to keep it up to date. What sort of changes could affect your coverage needs?

Common Causes of Insurance Claims

Are you deliberating on the usefulness of your insurance policy? When long breaks occur between mishaps, some homeowners begin to wonder why they are still paying their premiums. Below are a few reasons why it is essential to always maintain coverage.

Are You a High-Risk Driver?

Posted: 7/31/2012 10:50:00 AM

For some drivers, insuring their auto is harder than normal. This is because insurers have classed them as “high-risk” drivers. What causes some drivers to make this list?

Is your home insurance really doing its job, protecting you against potential financial loss? It’s not uncommon for homeowners in Massachusetts to take out a policy in a bit of a hurry when they buy a home, and not give it another thought. That can lead to a problem when it comes time to claim: namely, that the homeowner discovers they were underinsured. Here are some of the matters people overlook when taking out a policy.
